Have you ever tried brush lettering, faux calligraphy, or traditional calligraphy?
Brush lettering is not only fun, but it becomes fairly natural the more you do it. The basic idea is to mimic the look behind calligraphy, where you press harder on your downstrokes to get a thicker line there. Traditional copperplate calligraphy is more rule-based, which can be satisfying in its own way because it yields such a beautiful result. The idea behind brush or bounce lettering, on the other hand, is to be playful with your letters and let your own signature font shine through. Our brick and mortar shop in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA is stocked with a wide variety of supplies and tools to help with both of these hobbies. Let us know in the comments if you've ever tried brush lettering or calligraphy, and what some of your favorite tools are!
